(Or just my new blog. I tend to make mountains out of molehills, and this blog is definitely a molehill at the moment.)
Hi, my name is Jen, and I’m an artist. I don’t define myself solely as a photographer much anymore, though that is my central medium. I also make mixed media pieces on canvas and paper. Stories can be told in many different ways.
I’ve always enjoyed writing, but I’ve let it get away from me in recent years. This blog will be part diary/journal, part education, and part art. Maybe I’ll even throw a poem or something in sometimes.
I named this blog “Somebody’s Daydream” because I often forget that what I do – create every day – is someone’s dream job. I was once someone’s daydream (now I’m his wife), and I’m pretty sure my dog daydreams about playing chase and zoomies with me.
We are all someone’s daydream or living it, at some point.
Who is this blog for, anyway?
Well, it’s mostly for me and my enjoyment and/or working out problems in writing. If someone else gets something from it, that would be magnificent.
If you know me, you’ll know that I’m passionate about helping others. Mostly, I use my art to shine a light on dark things and give hope and a “you’re not alone vibe” to people that may feel otherwise. This blog will hopefully be the same.
I’m not sure of the goals I have for this blog, yet. I will likely connect it to my art. In fact, you’ll be able to find a link to my portfolio site in the header menu. But the beauty of life is that we’re always changing and growing. This blog may be much different in a year. I may turn it into only writing. It may be photos and stories to accompany. The world is my oyster, I guess.
Other potentially-relevant info about me:
Married for almost 12 years to my best friend.
Mom to our two amazing kids.
Fur-mom to a crazy Chinese Crested Powderpuff named Cochise.
I taught middle school for many years and I don’t scare easily.
I’m an open book when I talk about mental illness (especially depression, anxiety) and parasomnias. It’s very personal for me.
